SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

2025

The Chickahominy Masonic Lodge No. 286 AF&AM announces the award of $2,000 scholarships for the upcoming school year for high school seniors and the award of a $1,000 scholarship for existing college students.

ELIGIBILITY:

An entering student to an institution of higher learning accredited by State, Regional or National accrediting agencies. Institutions may include four-year colleges or universities, two-year junior colleges, community colleges, or technical schools. A student currently enrolled in such an institution is eligible for the existing college student scholarship.

The applicant must:

· Be related to a Mason by blood or marriage (e.g., son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild, step children, adopted children, etc.); 

Or

· Be a student at a public or private high school in James City County, New Kent County or City of Williamsburg, VA.

CRITERIA: 

Academic Achievement – This is reflected in the applicant’s high school (or college) record and includes a transcript of grades, class rank, academic awards, course selection, principal or counselor evaluations, and scores on the SAT and achievement test administered by the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). Minimum grade requirements are 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Non-Academic (high school seniors only) – This includes involvement in non-academic school activities, youth organizations, church, volunteer work, and other civic concerns.

Financial Need – This is the difference between the cost of the education at the college the student wishes to attend and the amount of money the applicant and his/her parents can be reasonably expected to contribute from their resources.

Masonic Affiliation – Although this is not a requirement for the award of a scholarship, family affiliation with Masons of Chickahominy Masonic Lodge No. 286, or any other Masonic Lodge, or activities in organizations such as DeMolay, Rainbow Girls, and Job’s Daughters will be considered and should be identified.
